- 1 pound okra sliced
- 1 cup cornmeal
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, and pepper.
Dip the sliced okra into buttermilk, then coat with the cornmeal mixture.
Fry the okra in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
