  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 1 loaf French bread sliced
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups half-and-half cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over medium heat. Stir until smooth. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Arrange slices of bread in the baking dish in a single layer.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour over the bread slices, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until golden and puffed, about 30 minutes.
